About Us

The founder (Jim Keenan) of Wags to Riches has over 32 years of experience in the art of Dog Training and Behavioral Sciences. He, as well as his staff, have a genuine love for animals and are extremely excited to share that love and experience with all the canine citizens in Lemont and its surrounding areas!

 Jim Graduated from The Tom Rose School of Dog Training in High Ridge, MO. in 1990 and upon graduation he moved to New York City and quickly became one of the most sought-after Trainers throughout Manhattan. During his tenure there, he appeared frequently on morning news shows such as Fox’s “Good Day New York”, and ABC’s “Good Morning America”, as a Dog Training and Behavioral Expert. He has also trained the dogs of many well-known celebrities such as; Mariah Carey, Chris Rock, and Tony Darrow just to name a few. Jim was also the Lead Training Consultant at the Bide-A-Wee Home Animal Shelter. Bide-A-Wee is a well-respected no kill shelter where Jim helped train the staff and conducted group obedience classes while donating all proceeds for his services to the shelter and their great cause.  

Jim was Internationally recognized and spent a month touring the Country of Norway with world renowned Dog Trainer and Behaviorist Turid Rugaas, Author of “On Talking Terms with Dogs”, and who is also well known for her study on canine “Calming Signals” which is now the approach and a staple used by the most respected Dog Trainers and behaviorists throughout the world.  

Jim’s approach to dog training is based on a positive motivation/reinforcement methodology, but most importantly, it’s teaching owners how to communicate in a language that all dogs can easily understand. 

Wags to Riches is not just a dog daycare,we are a canine enrichment center. Outside of being a day of play for your dog(s), we will incorporate basic obedience, social skills, and games in order to enrich your furry friends life. We will strive to become your dog(s) family away from home, and we'll do everything we can to make your furry friends experience with us fun, safe and memorable!
